Generating Topics
The purpose of this exercise was to practice cognitive thinking when dealing with artistic subject matter. We were asked to list ten topics for seven different subjects. The subjects included: ten current events, ten ongoing debates, ten personal interests, ten things going on in the world right now that you hate, ten things going on in the world right now that you love, ten things that may happen which you are looking forward to, ten subjects that are important to people you know, but which you don't care or know much about.
After compiling these lists we were told to widdle them down to six topics we would like to make imagery about. Here are my top six.
1. PC (windows) computers - grrr
PC computer encompass all computers running any kind of windows operating system. Some brand names include; Dell, Hewlett Packard and Compact. There has been some debate as to whether the Mac or the PC is the better operating system.
I have used Mac's my whole life. nuff said.

2. syringes (don't love, duh!)
A medical instrument used to inject fluids into the body or draw them from it.
I, along with many many others, am not a great fan of shots. Being diabetic, I have run-ins with this pointy headed bastard on a daily basis.

3. books
A set of written, printed, or blank pages fastened along one side and encased between protective covers.
I believe books to be a catalyst for inspiration and creative ideas. Throughout history books have influenced art and it's direction.

4. fossil vs. solar energy
Knowing that the natural resource of oil is finite, we are always looking for different avenues for producing energy. Solar is but one of those alternatives we look into to provide clean and unending power.
I think any type of energy other than oil is a huge bonus. Oil the cause for many environmental disasters and health related illnesses.

5. stem cell research
At what price does wellness and cures come about? The question stands on whether the fetus is considered alive or just tissue. The other side of the argument is the research that has been made with stem cells. The possibility of curing blindness and paralysis make a heavy argument against many morale grounds.
I don't have a solid opinion on this topic. I can see reasons on both ends of the argument.

6. Evolution vs. Creationism
This argument has inspired books and movies. Was man derived by apes or created exactly as we are now? Scientists and theologists continue to debate the issue.
My belief is a hybrid of the two. I believe we come from some form of natural selection, albeit by the hand of god.
